1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Keynap handles information in the Keynap desktop app and on the keynap.monosma.com website.
Keynap is built around local voice typing. The desktop app is designed so your recorded audio, transcripts, settings and history stay on your computer.
2. Information handled by the desktop app
Keynap processes microphone audio on-device and stores app data locally in the operating system app data area. This local data is used for dictation, settings and history.
- Microphone audio used as input to speech recognition. It is processed transiently for transcription and is not sent off the device.
- Transcription history, including whether text was injected, latency and timestamps (a limited number of recent entries).
- App settings, including hotkey, microphone choice, sensitivity, GPU backend, language and UI preferences.
- Local logs that may include technical error information.
3. Local processing
Speech recognition, voice activity detection and inference all run locally on your computer. Keynap does not upload your audio or transcripts to us.
All of this processing stays on your device. No cloud API is used.
4. Network use
After installation, dictation does not require an internet connection. The speech model is bundled with the app and is not downloaded separately. Some features and distribution paths may still use the network.
- Purchases, downloads, updates, license management and store pages are handled by Microsoft Store or Microsoft services under Microsoft's own terms and privacy practices.
- If you open external links or contact us by email, your browser, email provider and the receiving service may process the information needed to complete that action.
5. Website data
The keynap.monosma.com website may process basic access information such as IP address, browser type, device information, referring page and pages viewed. If Google Analytics is configured, analytics cookies or similar identifiers may be used to understand aggregate website usage.
6. Information you send to us
If you contact us, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, name, message contents and any attachments. We use this information to respond, provide support, investigate issues and maintain our records.
Please avoid sending audio files, logs or other sensitive material unless we specifically ask for it for support and you are comfortable sharing it.
7. Sharing and sale of data
We do not sell your audio, transcripts or local history data. Because the desktop app does not send those materials to us, we do not use them for advertising, model training or profiling.
We may share information we actually receive only with service providers needed to operate the website, email/support workflow, updates, payments or legal/compliance processes.
8. Retention and deletion
Local app data remains on your computer until you clear history in the app, reset settings, uninstall the app or delete the app data folder. Uninstall behavior can vary by installation type.
Messages sent to us are retained for as long as needed to respond, maintain support records and satisfy legal or operational requirements.
9. Security
Keynap limits data flow by keeping speech recognition local. You are responsible for protecting access to your computer, operating system account and local data.
Logs are stored locally and may include technical error information and file paths. They are not sent to us automatically.

We may update this Privacy Policy as Keynap changes. The updated date above shows when this page was last revised.
